“A friend loves you all the time.”
Proverbs: 17:17

Dear Parents,

January seems to have flown by in a blur, especially with its interesting weather! I can’t believe the second month of the year is upon us and the kids have not had a chance to sled yet! Usually by this time, we would have numerous photos of the children whizzing down the little hill by the playground already! However, with Illinois weather—you just never know! We might still get some sledding in before March! :)

Many fun activities are planned for the month of February. Children have started making special Valentine’s Day boxes or bags to collect all those fun cards they will be receiving from friends. Some will also start working on their classroom project that will be auctioned off at the annual Spaghetti Dinner/Silent Auction/Raffle Night to be held on Friday, March 16th from 4:30-7:30pm. We have started collecting items/services for our Raffle & Silent Auction. If you would like to donate at item/service, please let Pong know. We are looking for volunteers to help during the event and donations of dessert and cookies/cakes for the Cake Walk. The sign-up poster is also up by the entrance bulletin board. More info will follow for those who signed up.

mittens, gloves, etc.As the weather gets warmer and the chances that we will go outside more often increase, please make sure that your child comes to school with boots, snow pants, hats, and gloves/mittens. Playing outside is so much more fun when they are dressed for it. Children missing snow pants or boots may be required to play on the blacktop to prevent them from becoming wet and uncomfortable.

A letter from the Ministry Team went home a couple weeks ago. In that letter, there was information about opportunities to volunteer for this special event. The sign-up sheets are now posted by the entrance bulletin board. If you have any items/services or certificates that you wish to donate, please let me know.  In the past, we have always asked parents to donate pasta and/sauce, and/or desserts to assist with this event.  However, a generous company, Racconto, has again offered to supply all the sauce and pasta for this event (you can find this brand of spaghetti sauce at Caputos). We will only need desserts or “cake walk” items this year. We are so grateful!  If you wish to help with the donations or volunteer, please sign up.  The funds we raise will go towards our Scholarship Fund. We appreciate any help we receive.

Any donations we get from parents, businesses, etc. will be acknowledged on all of our Donation Lists that will be printed and sent home prior to and during the event. We will also be creating a slideshow of our supporters, along with photos of our preschoolers, to be shown on a big screen during dinner in the gym. What a great way to market your company or business!

The classrooms are also busy putting together their “themed baskets” to be auctioned off at the event.  Letters will be going home from the teachers soon.  Please watch for sign-up sheets to bring in donations for the baskets by your child’s classroom door. Last year, we raised about $5,500 to help with our scholarship fund.  Much of the funds have been used and will surely be appreciated again.
